== THIS WEEK ==

In this week's LFNS, we're off around the back streets of London
through twisting mews, up through little Venice, under the M40 and
down the hill to the back streets of Notting Hill for half time where
the fun really starts. Then it's off through Holland Park and into
Knightsbridge before looping around Hyde Park Corner. Phew! We then do
a lap of honour, starting down the smooth downhill streets of
Victoria, past Westminster and No 10 for the final ascent by the Ritz
for a last mad dash down to Hyde Park Corner. Meet at Wellington Arch,
8pm, we make the weathercall on the site at 5pm on Friday.

The SUNDAY STROLL is headed To The Lighthouse - not literally, but
literarily. We're going to Bloomsbury, via the West End: half time at
the Brunswick Centre (nearest Tube: Russell Square). We’ve been
unlucky the last couple of times we’ve attempted this route, let’s
hope this week the weather gods are shining on lead marshal Alan.

== LAST WEEK ==

Did you hear the one about the rabbit who washed his thing and
couldn't do a hare with it?

SMALL, LOUD AND INTERESTINGLY LED.

Friday saw PeterC step up for his first effort as Lead Marshal. This
was a Best of London jaunt, taking in the sights of the capital at a
moderate speed. Our friend Big Nick provided the tunes while Quentin
and Ono took turns to try out the new sound bike, each making sure the
whole skate could hear a rather cool mix. A brave routing decision
took us past both a popular pub stop and the Lead Marshal's normal
route home – really, we were lucky to make it to half time at all.

After our break at Nelson's Column, allowing time to change riders and
take photos (anyone got any they'd like to share on the website?) we
went for a blast round Theatre Land and the West End favourites.
Sadly, Westminster's attempt to re-create an episode of Time Team at
the end of Regent's Street had us rerouting at Berkley Square but we
were back on course by the time we hit Park Lane and the run home.
Well done to all who made it. We hope to see you on a full-on Friday
skate soon.

SUNDAY STROLL (STROLL!!! HUH! CALL THAT A STROLL!!!!)

Sunday found us with blue skies and (some) sunshine, lending cheer to
PeterC's second stint as Lead Marshal in two days. (The man is a
hero.) Over 100 skaters joined him for a gentle roll to Bishops Park.
Roger Rabbit provided the tunes and Howard made sure we could hear
them out and all the way home.

Slick work by the marshals meant a quick run down and back with few
stops, that and a rather nasty head wind for the run into the park
made for some tired faces come the end. Well done to all those who
discovered their inner speed skater on the sprint finish down South
Carriage Drive, and especially to Irina, who completed her first
Stroll last week. The photos are up on the website.

USELESS FACTS ABOUT RABBITS (No. 1 in a series): The collective noun
for rabbits is a bury.

IT WAS ONLY ROCK'N'ROLL (OR SOMETHING VAGUELY LIKE IT)

Several of those who survived the Stroll (and the wiser souls who
skived off at the Albert Memorial) were able to try something
completely different with a free dance lesson from Skate Lisa. Many
thanks to her and Rosa for their efforts to teach us all the Electric
Slide. They were much appreciated by the small crowd of tourists who
assembled to take photographs.

A group of street skaters trying to turn into disco dancers is quite
hilarious but Lisa obtained surprisingly spectacular results. Her
efforts were part of the build up to the Easter Skating
Eggstravaganza, which will feature dance classes and displays. Keep an
eye out at the Beach cos Lisa has said that she will be running free
classes again next weekend.

What are four hundred rabbits hopping backwards? A Receeding hare
line. Spotted in the Ann Summers newsletter. Hop hop.

== PRIZES FOR THE BEST DRESSED BUNNIES ==

What will all the hares be wearing on Easter Sunday’s special Easter
Bunny Stroll? Most of the marshals will be wearing our special bunny
boiler suit and ears. Cost is £5 for both, or £3 if you just want the
ears. While stocks last, we’re throwing in a nose too.

    http://www.easterskate.co.uk/stroll.php

If you want to be a little different from the bury, we’ve negociated a
great deal with fancy dress outlet Ace Fancy Dress, where you’ll find
luscious costumes, wigs and accessories for wannabe adult and child
bunnies. To take advantage of the offer, enter the special voucher
code ACE7698 when you get to the checkout, or quote it on phone
orders. We’re not getting any commission on the sales, leaving you to
enjoy a thumping 20% off your orders.

When we come back from the Bunny Stroll, we’ll be giving away vouchers
for the best costumes, so smarten up those bow ties and keep those
bobtails bobbing.

Over the weekend, we'll be giving out over £1,000 in skate kit,
generously donated by by Prolineskates.com, Club Blue Room and our
very own marshal Ed! The full list of sponsors and prizes and sponsors
will be up on the EasterSkate website soon.
