scary, but Waters says to just throw yourself into it."

== THIS WEEK ==

On the LONDON FRIDAY NIGHT SKATE, Markus is taking us Over and
Over. That's over the Thames, twice on a 12 mile route taking in
Marylebone, Embankment and on a jaunt through Southwark. Half time is
on Union Street (nearest tube: Borough).

This week's SUNDAY STROLL is Heading to a Beheading. The route takes
us east across the City for a half time stop at The Tower. Slightly
longer than normal for a Stroll as we have to avoid most of the
roadworks around the Central West End, it'll be about 11 miles in
total, but we're promised an additional short break on the homeward
stretch.

And TONIGHT, the LondonSkate are introducing a new route: 'Bridging the
Town'. Meet tonight as usual at 7:30pm opposite the bandstand on
Serpentine Road for a departure at 8pm. The route is weather
dependent, check the thread on the forum to see if they're running or
not.

== LAST WEEK ==

"Wow, that was great fun. And apart from one sore foot I'm feeling
fairly good this morning. Lets do it again soon, and go the other way
round so it feel like a different route" - Matt, presumably wanted to
make _both_ feet sore

"Very impressed by the music bike since its reincarnation" - Mick

"Every Friday should be like that" - lightnix. Well, maybe, but only
if we can get the pub to stay open later

"Wow, and who's making you do it?" - a passer-by. Er, er, er

"Oh what a thing to have done, and it was all yellow" - Coldplay

Seems that the LONDON FRIDAY NIGHT SIXTH BIRTHDAY CIRCLE LINE SKATE
was a great success. We started and finished at Victoria and went
round anticlockwise and progressively faster past such old favourite
sights and roads as Tower Hill, New Cavendish Street and Kensington
Church Street. Do you have photos? See below for what to do with
them ...

On SUNDAY a good few of you strolled around Victoria and Chelsea with
lead marshal Alan and marshal Sol riding the FireBrox. We took a
hundred photos of skaters - is your face among them?

== CHEQUERED HISTORY : A VIDEO ==

Some of you may have noticed we've had video cameras out and on our
most recent skates. Our volunteer film crew have been hard at work
editing several gigabytes of footage into a more concentrated format,
and the first fruits of their effort are now available for download:
the Chequered Stroll from two weeks ago. Full colour, too - not
everything in black and white makes sense.

== PICTURE THIS ==

Our new system for dealing with skate photos is now running, and the
beauty is two-fold: first, that we don't have to do any work any more
(cough), and second that nobody should have noticed the difference
except for the band of photographers who send us stuff. The thumbnails
are a little bigger, and the portrait photos are quite a bit bigger
(you can see them now) but in other respects it's pretty much the same
as it was. Minus a few wrinkles that we'll get to sorting in the next
few days.

If you wield a camera from time to time on the LFNS or Sunday Stroll,
all you have to do to get them on the lfns.co.uk web site is register
with Flickr and upload them, then follow the full and comprehensive
instructions (link below). Please put your photos up before you ask
for a group invite, though - we have to approve each group member, and
that's a lot easier when we can see you're not a spammer or a
pornographer.

If you're already sending pics - thanks! It does brighten up the site
a lot. We should soon be able to display the photographer's name along
with each picture so that you get a degree of credit for it too...

== DE-DEEMAXED ==

If you see a fairly battered pair of DeeMax II skates for sale (grey
and red, 247EA-R frames, Hyper Concrete wheels), one of our marshals
might want to hear from you. Mark's favourite skates went walkabout
(rollabout?) from a pub last Sunday and he's eager for news of them.

We've heard all kinds of stories about the increasing desirability of
this range since Salomon pulled out of the skate market and stopped
making new ones, but in Mark's own words "the boots were pretty tired
and I was thinking I'd need to replace them before too long", so why
anyone'd want this particular example we don't know. Shame about the
frames, though ...

If you have any news you can contact us through the feedback form and
we'll pass it on. Or you can PM Mark directly on the
serpentineroad.com forum

== BIKEATHON : JULY 15th ==

We've been asked for help to marshal the London Bikeathon, a cycling
event organised by Leukaemia Research on Sunday July 15th.

The route (see below) is pretty long, which is why they need lots of
volunteer marshals. The cyclists are leaving from Chelsea Hospital,
through the City into Docklands and back again. They're hoping to
place us as far east as Holborn, because we'll be able to skate back
easily from there in time to marshal the Sunday Stroll. They need
volunteers from 9am to 4:30pm, although we'll be leaving around 1pm to
return to the park.

If you're interested in helping out, please contact us using our
feedback form.
