HACKNEY CARRIAGE: This FRIDAY, Roggie will make a second attempt on
the north face of, err, London. After being cruelly rained off the
last time we tried to launch this route, the London Friday Night Skate
is heading on a brand new route to a stunning new destination. Yes,
we're heading to Hackney to see the pretty lights outside ye olde town
hall.

The 13 mile route takes us directly to Old Street, and from there we
leave the roads behind in favour of cycle tracks and parkways. As you
may remember, the return route was mapped out by none other than a
skater called Faris, and offers the best that London streets have to
offer, including a round-about that has a statue of a skater! We've
even highlighted the statue on the route map for you. Musical input
and "a toon too far" (TM) will be delivered by the Firebrox, bike of
mystery.

Hackney has no tube station, but if you don't want to complete the
second half you could catch one of many buses from Hackney Central.

The SUNDAY STROLL will take us towards the wild west, land of cowboys,
cowgirls and four by four ve-hic-ules. Yes sirree bob, we're a roving
roving roving westwards to find us some rawhide on Kensington High
Street.

While it may be the 3rd of February, Sunday will actually also be
Sol's 2nd ever Sunday Stroll as lead marshal, so she'll have her
daughter MiniSonic with her for moral support, and to help round up
any stray steers. Mini being mini, the pace will be very beginner
friendly, and the route round the ranch is expected to be a mere 7.5
miles. The half time stop at Gloucester Road underground station,
where horses can be watered and the last of the corny cowboy jokes
laid to rest. Oh, and please don't shoot the sheriff.

FRIDAY - WHAT THE DICKENS!

It was the best of skates, it was the worst of skates, it was a skate
of wisdom, it was a skate of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity, it was a time for Lights, it was the
season of Darkness, it was the hoped for dry night in a winter of
despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing but empty tarmac
before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going
direct the other way - in short, it was what the LFNS is all about. If
you were there, you know that. If you weren't, you missed it. Tough.

SUNDAY - RAINBOW WARRIOR

The last was indeed first. Yes, last week's Sunday Stroll was Tom's
first outing as lead marshal. If you didn't notice, he cooked up a
colourful route round London that was much appreciated by the 202 or
so of you (yes, we counted), that turned up. One skater on
SerpentineRoad.com said, "This was my first Stroll and... WOW! I
really enjoyed it! So thanks to all the LFNS guys who put so much
effort for this to happen... I can just say: you are GREAT!" Thanks
hon, we think you're pretty cool too.

Photos. Mustn't forget, we have photos -

== CONGRATULATIONS ==

Marshals are famously ascetic creatures, denying themselves all
earthly delights in pursuit of the perfect skate. So we are especially
pleased to announce that Kingsley has somehow found time to meet the
girl of his dreams, sweep her off her feet and persuade her to marry
him.

Kingsley and Katy will be getting hitched on February 22nd. The bride
is Cambodian and they are marrying in a traditional Khmer ceremony at
Chung Ruk Village near Phnom Penh.

Katy doesn't skate yet but has promised to learn. We look forward to
seeing the happy couple on their skates later in the year.

Congratulations from all of us. We'll be thinking of you on the day.
