FRIDAY - CLAPHAM COMMON
In recent weeks we've taken you west and we've taken you east, so now
it's time to take you down south. Yeaaah baby, we're heading on one of
our most exciting routes ever! This week, lead marshal Roggina is
taking the LFNS on a shorter than normal tour to Clapham Common. Half
time is by Clapham Common underground station, and the return route
passes by the homes of two of her bestest buddies. Whips will be at
the ready to ensure she stops only at traffic lights and
junctions. Brox the magic music bike is charged and ready to roll, and
has promised to hum a Toon Too Far (TM), so join us at the start of
the weekend for the best of roller blading fun!!

SUNDAY - GOING SOUTH
Taking his cue from Roger, the Ol' man (AKA Alan) is also taking us
south of the river (just) to Battersea Park, while the weather is
still cold enough to cross Albert Bridge without sticking in the
tarmac. Half time at the Cafe in the Park. About 8 miles in all.

= LAST WEEK ==
FRIDAY - HACKNEYED CARRIAGE
Last Friday Roggie took the LFNS to see the pretty lights outside
Hackney Town Hall. Everyone seemed to enjoy the remarkably smooth and
flat route, and those that saw the skater statue were inspired to do
something equally special with their hands.
We're also pleased to report that rumours of violent street crime and
hooligans pinching the wheels from skaters were highly
exaggeratedly. One or two skaters did have their bottoms pinched, but
it turned out this was done only by their close friends, and all
behinds seemed to be back in place by the time we left.
Oh, and congratulations to Cindy for completing her first LFNS!
SUNDAY - WHIPCRACK AWAY
As promised, Sol took the cowboys and cowgirls of London
a-roving-roving to the wild west. As it turned out they got as far as
Gloucester Road before it was time to enjoy some baked beans around
the camp fire and get down to branding some heifers. With Sony and
Cola burnt onto their backsides, the merry crew of wranglers began the
long ride home. A fun day out was had by all; one Serpentineroad.com
poster said of the day, "Top fun and great to see quite a few very
young kids make it round." Top fun indeed, and top marks to Sol, our
very own madame whiplash.
== THE EASTER SKATE ==
...is approaching fast. If you want to know what it's all about or
keep informed about the events that are happening this year over the
Easter weekend, why not join the Facebook group?
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8335706917
The group has a video of last year's Bunny Stroll to whet your
appetite. Yeah, we know Facebook's passe now: "nobody goes there any
more, it's too crowded", so there's also a Youtubed (lower-quality)
version.

Youtube was never hip to start with, so hopefully that should be safe.
Official web site coming soon, will be at

== SLALOM ACADEMY ==
The LondonSkaters Freestyle Club is starting up a new Slalom Academy
run by the Korean coach of the Slalom Academy in Korea's Olympic Park,
who is conveniently living in London for 6 months. The Slalom Academy
sessions are suitable for all levels, from 'what is a cone?' to 'I
hate repeatedly coming 2nd place'. So, if you want to learn how to
get your feet around cones, develop what you're already learning, or
just enjoy learning with others, get more details by clicking this
linky.

== PHOTO CALL ==
We're pleased to welcome a new photographer to our ranks. Cecile read
our recent article about adding street-skate photographs to
http://www.lfns.co.uk She was so inspired she promptly got an account
on Flickr and posted us her photographs of the Sunday Stroll on 20th
January.
If you pop over to our web site and check out the photos you should
see that the fruits of her labour have been added to the end of the
collection. Thanks Cecile, we look forward to seeing more of your
photos next time you bring your camera out.
Check this link for information about how to send us your photos if
you too would like to join in the fun...

==FLIPPIN' 'ECK==
Pancake Day's over and we missed it, but here's a traditional sweet
pancake recipe from old granny wheels...
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 beaten egg
1 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons melted butter
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the
centre and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; whisk until
smooth.
Heat a frying pan over medium high heat and pour in a ladle of the
mixture. Wait till it sets, flip to your hearts content and top with a
bit of what you fancy.
(Pancake flipping at readers own risk. Please ask permission from the
kitchen owner. Ask a grownup to help with setting the hob and finishing
the bottles. Week on Wheels cannot be held responsible for any damage
caused to ceilings.)
