== THIS WEEK ==
Following the theme of his last LFNS lead, "straight there and back
with some twists in the middle", Lead Marshal Bren is taking the
LONDON FRIDAY NIGHT SKATE westward to Barnes. There are some really
lovely smooth roads and in some places you feel you are in the
countryside. These are not necessarily the same places.
The skate starts at 8pm sharp. Half time is at the Pond in Barnes
Village, there are a couple of shops just down the road a bit but
please be back in time as Bren doesn't like to hang around, something
to do with getting to the Vic before 10.

Two days later Kensey (who says "they've let me out again") takes the
SUNDAY STROLL to Shepherd's Bush, a destination about which we could
make all kinds of off-colour jokes along the "triangular patch of
short tufty stuff" lines if we didn't have the family-friendly
editorial policy. But as things stand we guess that probably wouldn't
go down too well.
2pm start. Half time Shepherd's Bush Common, tube stations adjacent
are on Central and Hammersmith & City lines.

== LAST WEEK ==
Roggie took the SUNDAY STROLL on a one way excursion to Richmond
Park. Although the sun shone brightly a westerly wind was also out in
force. Overall then, our congratulations and their own after sun
lotion to all those that completed the 9.4 mile journey. Photos are
available on our web site. Ointment by appointment.

The LONDON FRIDAY NO SKATE, unfortunately. As doubtless you spotted,
so did the sky.
== A STROLL IN THE PARK? ==
The lovely[*] people at Skatefresh have sent us some details of their
"Intro to Stroll" workshop. Aimed at beginner skaters (you need to be
able to skate, turn and stop confidenly on a downhill using your heel
brake) this intensive class teaches the skills and confidence you need
to participate in the Sunday Stroll safely and with aplomb - how to
accelerate quickly, decelerate safely, and handle uphills, downhill,
rough surfaces, manhole covers and emergencies.
It's on the 6th July at 2pm: it starts with a 15 minute review of
downhill stopping, then heads out onto the roads to try it for real.
Email asha@skatefresh.com to book.

[*] We think they're lovely, anyway. Anyone offering training to new
skaters that makes it less risky for us to overtake them is ipso facto
a force for good in this uncertain world.
== LE MANS AID ==
If numbers on the skates look a bit down this weekend, it's because
lots of people are headed off to Le Mans to play in the 24 hour skate
relay race. If this includes you, we wish you the best of luck -
especially if you're one of the six crazies doing it in a two-man
Duo instead of the usual ten-man team. Fruit smoothies, apparently,
are just the ticket when your digestion has shut down after 14 hours.
If you're seized with a sudden last-minute urge to spend the weekend
in France, a couple of the teams are short one or two places due to
last minute injuries and things. You'll need skates, a helmet and a
sense of humour (a tent may be useful too), there are a couple of
offers of lifts there and back.

== FOUR WHEELS GOOD, TWO WHEELS BAD ==
We're pleased to announce that the Firebrox mobile skate sound system
(go on, admit it, you'd forgotten all about it) is now up from two to
three wheels and the fourth one is predicted "soon" (we've got most of
the bits). Two wheels bad, three wheels better ...
== FADING OUT ==
So it's goodnight from us. A reminder that if you were going to
Goodwood Roller Marathon but haven't registered yet, the price goes up
on Sunday: you have 3 days remaining to secure your place at a
knockdown £15. Don't forget.
