Here at Skate Towers we are only just recovering from celebrating
the completion of the Bunny Stroll; what ever was in the drinks made
us forget about
== THIS WEEK== till now.

THIS FRIDAY at 8pm

British summer time has begun, which means light nights, no to snow
and yes to melted chocolate. In celebration of all this the LFNS is
heading down south to Clapham Old Town for something unusually
common.

The 10 mile route is popular with regular skaters because it has a
couple of gentle downhill sections for sprinting. But the hills
really are gentle, so the more restrained skaters could easily hang
around at the back and control their speed with some light heel
brake action. A suitable musical accompaniment from a Toon Too Far
will flow unrestrained from the box of Brox, ridden by Jim the
moving mix meister.

THIS SUNDAY at 2pm
The Ol' Man is taking us on an aimless wander around Victoria and
Belgravia, trying to avoid the Olympic Torch.

LAST SUNDAY

It seems the prayers of two hundred bunnies were finally answered
last Sunday. Even the weather forecasters predicted gloom but a park
full of wain weary wabbits found only sunshine and high times. Yes,
the long awaited and much anticipated EasterSkate, aka the
BunnyStroll, finally took to the streets last Sunday in an afternoon
of perfect sunshine.

Lead marshal Sol fearlessly eschewed the attempts of 200 or so
hungry bunnies that tried to, err, chew her fluffy tail. After all,
she knew cream eggs would be on offer to any ravenous rabbits that
took part in the Egg and Spoon race in Hyde Park after the stroll.
More prizes went to the race winners, and more still were dished out
when the winners of the raffle were announced in the Vic pub on
Sunday evening.

As well as bringing wide smiles to the faces of all the took part,
the sale of raffle tickets, bunny ears and costumes raised much
needed funds for the London Friday Night Skate and Sunday Stroll.
None of the marshals or other organisers benefit financially from
their work with the skates - all the money raised will be spent on
things essential to running these skates throughout the year, such
as batteries for walkie talkies and the costs of the music bike.

SKATE SAFE

For your own safety and that of those around you, please remember
that if you come to our street skates you must be able to turn and
stop safely, both on level ground and on downhill gradients. Never
go so fast that you can't stop yourself safely in the clear road
ahead.
With us and other times, you skate at your own risk.

OUR FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT WRITES==

Holidaying in Brittany? Why not join the Sunday skate in Rennes? It
is held on the first and third Sunday of every month and is very
enjoyable. Everyone is welcome. Details from Matthieu, who (we are
assured) speaks excellent English. Contact him at randozen@free.fr.
Next skate Sunday 6th April at 2.30pm.
